German Migrant Letters Complete Corpus

This is a dataset used to visualise the correspondence of German-speaking migrants in the US between 1830 and 1970.
Description
The Forschungsbibliothek Gotha holds most of the letters in hard copy along with some additional information which we have not digitised. We are thankful for having been granted extensive access and helpful advice by Monika Hasenmüller.
Wolfgang Helbich started the collection in the 1980s and Ursula Lehmkuhl now administers it. Visualisations of the data can be accessed here. Publications drawing on this source: Integration and Identities: The Effect of Time, Migrant Networks, and Political Crises on the Germans in the US, in Comparative Studies in Society and History.
