1980–2025 Hot–Dry–Windy Conditions in Central Asia: Python Analysis Code

The workflow is based primarily on hourly ERA5-Land meteorological data and includes the operational HDW definition, a strictly synchronous-hourly definition, and a daily-scale proxy used for historical–future comparison. The code supports calculation of HDW frequency, compound-state characteristics, trend-removal sensitivity, paired moving-block bootstrap uncertainty, absolute- and percentile-threshold sensitivity tests, and cropland-weighted exposure.

Additional scripts are provided for station-based evaluation using NOAA GHCNh observations, CMIP6 historical evaluation and future projections, model-sensitivity analyses, and fixed versus dynamic cropland-mask comparisons. The code package is intended to support reproducibility of the analyses reported in the associated study on the historical increase, definition dependence, and future cropland exposure of HDW conditions in Central Asia.
