Effectiveness of Myofascial Release on Diaphragm thickness and excursion in smokers and non-smokers

As the diaphragm is an inspiratory muscle with morphological characteristic such as thickness and its ability to excurse during breathing. There is no literature available in context to monitor the change in thickness and excursion of diaphragm after manual release technique under quite breathing and deep breathing circumstances.

It has been noted that patients with poor respiratory functions have impaired diaphragm excursion and thickness. Therefore, there was a need to explore the impact of manual therapeutic intervention on diaphragm thickness and excursion in smokers’ population and its comparison with non-smokers population. The aim of the study was to explore the effectiveness of myofascial release on diaphragm thickness and excursion in smokers and non-smokers population.
