Description
This is not the case in the emerging countries in Africa which are late in managing in an efficient manner their environmental problems. This article aims at designing a network for facilitating the collection of municipal waste.
More precisely, mixed integer linear programming models are proposed in order to locate recycling bins in the city of Boudjlida in Tlemcen in Western Algeria. An allocation-location approach is used for the proper covering of residential zones while ensuring that the inhabitants agree on a common maximum distance to reach the bins. The size of the bins is optimised for each type of specific waste.
