Data for: Determinants of success of community forestry: Empirical evidence from Ethiopia. Institutional Characteristics Survey Data

This portion of the dataset (see 1262-2 for Part 2) focuses on institutional characteristics and governance systems. It includes information on: - The history and establishment of the community forests. - Operational rules, collective-choice arrangements, and constitutional-choice processes. - Governance systems, including organization of forest protection. - Criteria determining who qualifies as a beneficiary of the resource. - Conflict resolution mechanisms. - Involvement of external and local organizations. - Broader performance outcomes.

All non-quantifiable aspects are included in this section. The questionnaire structure was primarily multiple-choice with Likert-scale responses, supplemented by a small number of open-ended questions. The survey was carried out in 2012.
