Ten Tables of State and County Socio-economic Data Tabulated from the 1970 Census

They used these data to examine poverty conditions in the United States and to support agency activities relating to local policy planning and funding for poverty programs. This series consists of summary data from the 1970 Census.

The files are also known as the 1970 Census Putnam Files, named after their compiler, Israel Putnam. The data are reported in ten tables and they are: 1) poverty status of persons by type of household; 2) age and work experience by sex and household status; 3) families with children by household status; 4) employed persons in selected categories by sex and occupational group; 5) persons aged 14-21 by years of schooling completed and whether or not school was completed; 6) persons and families by ratio of income to property level and non-farm house rental; 7) persons and families by ratio of income to property level and home value; 8) number of households by the number of persons by room and the presence of plumbing facilities; 9) number of households by family income, number of children, age of children, and family size; and 10) number of families and persons by income sources and percentage of income from those sources.
