The works of theorists such as Lambert and Van Gorp (1985), Bassnett and Lefevere (1990), Toury (1995) and Gentzler and Tymoczko (2002), who discuss the importance of historical, social, ideological and power aspects related to translation will be considered. The contributions of Sonia E. Alvarez and Claudia de Lima Costa (2013, 2014) on policies of translation of feminist theories and practices involving Latin American women and U.S.- based Latinas will also be relevant for a reflection on gender and ethnic-racial issues in Mulheres, raça e classe.
