The agency created this file to provide the public, U.S. government agencies, and international development policy makers access to quality socio-economic data on countries in Latin America.

Description

This series contains social survey statistics and economic statistics for 18 countries in Latin America. The countries are: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Ven ezuela.

The social survey statistics include social indicators in the areas of elementary, secondary, and higher education, public health, housing, cooperative societies, roads, and population. The economic statistics include economic indicators in the areas of Gross National Product, investments, revenue and taxation, public expenditures, Consumer Price Index, agricultural productivity, and electric power production. This data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC).
