Entropy-calibrated stellar modeling

Listed in IVOA Registry (Virtual Observatory)

Modeling the convection process is a long-standing problem in stellar physics.

Description

To date, all ad hoc models have relied on a free parameter, alpha, (among others) that has no real physical justification and is therefore poorly constrained. We implemented the entropy-calibration method into the stellar evolution code (Cesam2k20) and performed comparisons with the Sun and the alpha Cen system.

In addition, we used data from the CIFIST grid of 3D atmosphere models to evaluate the accuracy of the prescriptions. We provide a data table with entropy of the adiabat of the CIFIST grid. The 104 models range in effective temperature from 4000K to 6800K, in log of surface gravity from 1.5dex to 4.5dex and in metallicity [Fe/H] from -3dex to 0.5dex.
