Oceanographic temperature profiles from the HMS CHALLENGER in the Antarctic, North Atlantic and other locations from 1873-02-15 to 1876-05-06 (NCEI Accession 0126754)

Description
From 1872 to 1876, the HMS Challenger sailed around the world studying ocean features such as ocean temperature and chemistry, wildlife, and sounding the ocean, discovering undersea features like seamounts and ocean trenches. This expedition marked the beginning of the modern study of oceanography. The temperature and meteorology data were digitized from the historical cruise report at 19thcenturyscience.org/HMSC/HMSC-Reports/1895-Summary/htm/doc.html.
