Dit verhaal gaat over de tijd waarin er nog met paarden werd gewerkt bij Defensie om de stukken geschut te trekken; de mobilisatie- en oorlogstijd in 1939-1940.
Description
In Boekel, waar hij deze man in de mobilisatieperiode de opleiding tot onderofficier volgde, was het kermis. Defensie vorderde daar de danstent.
In De Paltz lag de munitie, die door deze man en zijn collega’s bewaakt werd. Ten tijden van de Duitse inval moest hij per fiets naar Bilthoven. In Vinkeveen, ondergebracht in een school, wachtten de Nederlandse militairen op de komst van de Duitsers.
