<p>Growth phase affects induction of the CSP but not MgsA levels.</p>

<p>(A) <i>B. burgdorferi</i> were grown at 35°C until mid-log (~1 × 10⁷ cells ml^-1), late log (5-7 × 10⁷ cells ml^-1), stationary (~1 × 10⁸ cells ml^-1) or late stationary (~3 × 10⁸ cells ml^-1) phase before whole cell lysates collected. Samples were separated by SDS-PAGE and analyzed by immunoblot using antibodies against MgsA or FlaB.

(B) Cells were grown to mid-log, late-log or late stationary phase and total cell lysates collected (0h) or shifted to RPMI (- 24 h) or RPMI containing 100 µM glycerol (gly 24 h) at 35°C. After 24 h, whole cell lysates were collected and analyzed by immunoblot using anti-MG antibodies to follow protein glycation and anti-FlaB antibodies as a loading control.</p>
