Fissidens is one of the most diverse genera of mosses in China. Most members of this genus are terrestrial, with a few preferring tree trunks as substrates. Fissidens pokhrensis is newly discovered in China, occurring at the base of a tree in Yunnan Province.

Morphological descriptions and photographs of this species are provided. In addition, an updated identification key is presented for Chinese species of Fissidens characterized by semilimbate leaves and papillose or mammillose laminal cells, including F. pokhrensis.
