<p>The figure shows annual mean age trajectories for elite and non-elite female players after excluding the COVID-disrupted seasons 2020–2021.
Description
Points represent annual mean age values based on player-year observations. Linear trend lines were fitted separately by elite status, with shaded bands indicating 95% confidence intervals.
This sensitivity visualisation was used to assess whether age trajectories were materially affected by the COVID-disrupted period. The observed temporal pattern indicates only a modest increase in mean age over time, supporting the interpretation of age as a contextual covariate rather than as an empirically established mechanism underlying the observed ranking-efficiency differentiation.</p> <p>(TIF)</p>
