Wind profiles of the Wright Valley using an acoustic wind profiler measuring wind speed and direction and dry bulb temperature

This instrument may have the advantage of providing continuous vertical profiles of wind speed and direction and being portable should be useable at a number of sites. Fixed instrument sites were established at 95m (Vanda Station), 200m, 750m and 1070m up the face of Mount Odin in the Wright Valley.

These sites measured wind speed and direction and dry bulb temperature. In addition to the data collection at fixed sites, two traverses were completed on foot and measurements taken using hand held instruments. Two days were also spent trekking down the valley, taking measurements with hand held instruments and becoming familiar with the terrain.
