Hourly scaled ionospheric characteristics for Macquarie Island, Mawson and Casey.Routine high latitude observations made in Antarctica form a climatological baseline of the ionosphere extending back to 1958 at Mawson and Casey, and for almost two decades at Davis and Macquarie Island. The ionosonde data collection program operates so that the ionosphere is sampled sufficiently often that changes can be unambiguously identified. Each data sample is called an ionogram and is the

Ionospheric dynamics in the polar capThe aim is to measure structure and drift in polar-cap ionospheric layers in order to test current theories and models, identify unexplained behaviour and develop theoretical explanations. The polar cap ionosphere is affected significantly by conditions in the solar wind, so it is important to understand this outer region of our environment, not just to extend our knowledge, but to improve space w

Ionospheric observations at the SAS Juan Carlos I during 2021-22The ionospheric monitoring is carried out by vertical incident ionospheric soundings, using the Advanced Ionospheric Sounder - INGV. The sounder is located at the surrounding area of the Spanish Antarctic Station Juan Carlos I (Livingston Island). Its operation is limited to the availability of electrical power supply, and for this reason it only operates during the months in which the SAS JCI rem

Worldwide Ionospheric Data with IonosondeIonospheric observations have been carried out in Japan since 1930s by means of vertical sounding using ionosondes. The ionosonde produces ionograms, which are recorded digitally on computer storage medium as well as graphically on 35mm photografic film. The digitally-recorded ionograms are collected from each stations with ISDN network and reduced to numerical values and Summary Plots by the auto

Digisonde Portable Sounder 4 Data at Zhongshan Station, Antarctica,Year 2002The DPS-4, developed by the University of Masachusetts at Lowell Center for Atmospheric Research (ULCAR), is a pulse HF Doppler radar controlled by a computer. It can measure the amplitude, phase, time delay, frequency, Doppler shifts, and angle of arrival and wave polarization from ionospheric echoes. The data is stored originally in a quarter-inch cartridage and retrieved by the Library software

Ionospheric observations at the SAS Juan Carlos I since 2005An Advanced Ionospheric Sounder (AIS), developed by the Italian Istituto Nazionalle di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, was installed in the Spanish Antarctic Station Juan Carlos I (SAS JCI) during the 2004-2005 survey. This digisonde makes measurements of the overhead ionosphere every 10 minutes. Due to the limitation of electrical power production and its consumption, the ionospheric records are limite

Ionospheric Data with DPS-4 for Zhongshan StationDuring the austral summer of 1994/1995 the Digisonde Portable Sounder-4 (DPS-4) was deployed at Zhongshan Station, Antarctica by the 11th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition. The instrument was installed and adjusted in January and has been in operation since the 3rd February, 1995. The monthly tables of ionospheric characteristics based on the observations of the DPS-4 are presented. I

Coupling, Energetics, and Dynamics of Atmospheric Regions (CEDAR) Database at NCAR/HAOThe Coupling, Energetics, and Dynamics of Atmospheric regions (CEDAR) is a program sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) designed to enhance the capability of ground-based instruments to measure the upper atmosphere and to coordinate instrument and model data for the benefit of the scientific community. The CEDAR Data Base (formally the Incoherent Scatter Radar Data Base) is a coopera

Ionospheric vertical soundingIonospheric observations, using radio techniques, are an important part of the aeronomic studies that may be carried out in polar zones where the peculiarity of the physical phenomena, due to the solar terrestrial interactions with the magnetic field and with the upper atmosphere, are particularly interesting for research studies and space weather applications. The ionospheric vertical sounding is

Ionosphere Physics Data from Belgrano and San Martin Bases, AntarcticaVertical incidence ionosoundings are being performed at the Belgrano and San Martmn stations. Ionospheric cosmic noise absorption is continuously recorded at the same stations, at a frequency of 30 MHz. Data collection began at the Belgrano I Base in 1969 and continued until 1979. Data collection began at Belgrano II Base and San Martin Base in 1980 and 1991, respectively. Data collection is conti

Hourly-scaled ionospheric data from Vernadsky stationIonosphere sounding is carried out using the semi-automatic station ISP-42. This is a radar system for impulse radio sounding of the ionosphere in the height interval up to 800 km at frequencies 1.0-22.6 MHz. The impulses are emitted every 15 minutes during the 20-second interval. Ionograms are processed using the URSI technology and hourly averaged resulting raw data are stored in ASCII format. A
