A Study on the Relationship between Group Identity and Perceived Justice within Organizations: Exploring Differences between In-group and Out-group

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

The purpose of this study is to examine the differences of justice perceptions between supervisors’ in-group and out-group members in organizations.

Description

Since Chinese societies are collective ones, using Taiwanese organizational members to be our sample may significantly reflect the variations of group identity. This study contains an exploratory case study and a survey research.

The former attempts to understand organizational members’ justice perceptions in complex social contexts, while the latter aims at examining organizational members’ views on punitive events. Research results found support for a difference of justice perceptions between in-group and out-group members. Regression results show that individual’s justice world motive predicts distributive justice perceptions, and their perceptions of leader-member exchange quality predict procedural justice perceptions.
