Gene expression changes in commensal 3D full thickness skin models induced by different skin bacterial mixtures.

Listed in NCBI GEO

Our data indicates that a higher bacterial species diversity is associated with a biologically stable and non-pathogenic co-culture.

Description

We established a commensal human skin model to more accurately emulate healthy skin and facilitate future investigations of microbiome-mediated effects on host health. The system is based on a commercial human full-thickness skin model that can be stably colonized with a defined bacterial community.

This community comprises ten different bacterial species that encompass three main phyla, Bacillota, Actinomycetota, and Pseudomonadota, in ratios similar to those found on human skin (BAP). The suitability of BAP for skin colonization was evaluated against combinations of two or one phyla (BA, BP, AP, B, A, and P).
