Overexpression of CENPM Facilities Glioma Progression via PI3K/AKT Pathway
Listed in NCBI GEO
Glioma, a prevalent form of primary brain tumor, pose significant challenges due to their aggressive nature and poor prognosis.
Description
This study investigated the role of Centromere Protein M (CENPM) in the progression of glioma. Analysis of data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) revealed that elevated CENPM expression is associated with unfavorable patient outcomes and influences key molecular pathways.
In vitro experiments demonstrated that downregulation of CENPM expression can inhibit glioma cell proliferation and induce cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase. Further research found that CENPM can activate PI3K/AKT signaling pathway in glioma cells. In vivo studies confirmed that CENPM knockdown leads to reduced tumor growth in glioma models and improves the prognosis of these tumor-bearing mice.
