Fentanyl-Induced Rapid Cortical Damage and Cardiopulmonary Arrest Linked to Atypical Dynamics of Apoptosis and Immune Response in a Mouse Model
Listed in NCBI GEO
The rapid onset of fentanyl outpaces the FDA-approved drugs to impair cardiopulmonary system and brain functions.
Description
Rising number of fentanyl related mortalities and overdoses, and near absence of any viable therapy calls for a comprehensive interrogation. In this study, adult SKH-1 mice were exposed to different doses of fentanyl citrate and organs (cortex, heart, lung) were collected at 0h (40min), 6h, 24h, and 7d post-administration.
Total RNA was extracted and gene expression was profiled using Agilent SurePrint G3 Mouse GE 8x60K microarrays. This study aims to investigate the molecular perturbations associated with fentanyl overdose and identify early molecular markers of tissue-specific injury.
