Primary Cutaneous Nocardiosis: A Systematic Review

To date, studies specifically focusing on the clinical and epidemiological characterization of cutaneous nocardiosis remain limited, despite its recognition as an important clinical subtype within the broader classification of Nocardia infections.

We analyzed the publication years of relevant case reports, and the literature indicates a gradual yet consistent increase in the number of reported cases over time. To address this gap, we developed a systematic literature search strategy based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The PRISMA statement comprises both a checklist and a flow diagram, into which we incorporated our literature search methods, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and other relevant sections of the review.
