Myeloid Cell COX-2 Deficiency Exacerbated Salt-Sensitive Hypertension [RNA-Seq]

Listed in NCBI GEO

It is well known that either nonselective (NSAIDs) or selective inhibitors of cyclooxygenase -2 (COX-2) will promote and/or exacerbate hypertension, especially in salt-sensitive individuals.

Description

Although previous studies have indicated that COX-2 inhibition of intrinsic kidney cells can modify kidney epithelial sodium transport, our previous studies demonstrated that deletion of COX-2 in hematopoietic cells also led to blood pressure increases in mice in response to a high salt diet.
