Accumulation of mutant Z α1-Antitrypsin impairs intestinal function in mice

We found that accumulation of mutant Z α1-Antitrypsin in intestinal cells, and in particular in Paneth cells, induces activation of proteotoxic pathways leading to impaired intestinla homeostasis in PiZ mice.
