Genome-scale methylation data from BA8 cortex samples from controls and schizophrenia patients.

Listed in NCBI GEO

Schizophrenia is a complex disorder with many contributory factors of which evidence for epigenetic mechanisms comes from the observed ~40% discordance rates between monozygotic twins.

Description

DNA methylation is one of the epigenetic marks of the genome that influence gene expression in response to developmental and environmental cues. In order to identify DNA methylation differences between frontal cortices of schizophrenia patients and age- and sex-matched controls, genome-scale methylation data was generated.

Genomic DNA samples from BA8 samples isolated from 30 controls and 22 schizophrenia patients. The data generated will be useful in identifying patient-associated CpG sites or regions through differential methylation analyses.
