Small RNA sequencing of serum identifies circulatory microRNAs as biomarkers of coronary artery disease

Coronary artery disease (CAD) remains the leading cause of morbidity in developing countries like India.
Description
It is crucial to identify reliable biomarkers for early detection and risk stratification of the disease. Nucleic acids like microRNAs have emerged as promising candidates for reliable biomarkers due to their stable presence in circulation.
Our aim was to determine the potential of circulating miRNA as biomarkers in CAD. To achieve this we utilized next-generation RNA sequencing to profile the miRNome in the serum samples obtained from 8 angiographically proven CAD patients and 4 control subjects. This approach allowed for a comprehensive analysis of the miRNA expression, identifying 12 differentially expressed miRNAs.
